Courage For life

by Pastor Barry Yates

Courage enables us to do more – exceedingly, abundantly more – than we would ever have thought we were capable of in serving Christ and advancing His Kingdom.  The Greek word translated is “courage” and “good cheer” or literally “boldness and confidence.”  In the Bible, courage is the opposite of fear.  As we grow to understand the key components of Christian courage, and as we discover the means for engaging the indwelling Spirit of God, we will surprise even ourselves to see how God can work within us in surprisingly courageous ways.
As Christians who desire to make a difference in the world we are going to face unique challenges that will require a great deal of courage.  C. S. Lewis said "Courage is not simply one of the virtues, but the form of every virtue at the testing point."
