Have you ever been talking with someone, and they ask you a question about the Bible and you did not know the answer? If your answer is YES, I want you to know you are not alone. Sometimes people come to me and ask questions that I really do not have the answers to. I often feel bad about it, but I remind myself that no one has all the answers. So, what I do in this situation is tell the person that I don’t know the answer, but I would love to research it and get back to you. Since we are talking about the Bible, have you ever thought about all the miracles in the Bible? More impressive than any of the miracles in the Bible is the Bible itself! A collection of sixty-six books written over a span of 1500 years by over forty different authors, the Bible remarkably tells one single story. Redemption! It is the theme throughout the book. The Bible is not an ancient black book filled with theology about yesterday. It is a book that satisfies the longing of the human heart. The Word of God strengthens us every day and nourishes our spirit. Our very life depends upon this Word and truth! See, the Bible is God’s Word. In Second Timothy chapter 3 verse 16 from the NIV, it says, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” After years of studying and praying through lots of information, I have come to a conclusion that I would like to share with you.
God’s Word is infallible. In all that it teaches and all it affirms, it is correct and right and perfect for any time. The Word of God is inerrant. There are no errors in Scripture. The Word of God fills us with counsel for life…correction when we get off the path… and strength for the battle. The Bible gives us encouragement and hope. Can you imagine a perfect, pure God breathing out error? Certainly not! God’s word is accurate!
That is why you can trust the Bible through and through for your life today. From the very beginning of Genesis, when God created the heavens and the earth, until the closing chapters of Revelation, we have the Word of God…consistent, clear, and concise…telling us how to go to heaven, how to know Jesus Christ, how to experience eternal life, and how to know and worship God. This is the Word of God! And you can trust it as your ultimate authority of life and truth for today. Please remember this: The Bible is the book of all books. You can step into almost any bookstore, and you will find volumes covering all topics imaginable. Want a new direction for your life? Self-help sections are extremely popular and accessible. Are your children disobeying? Parenting literature abounds. But do all of these "expert" authors have trustworthy credentials? There is a place to find guidance and information that will not ever mislead: the Bible will bless and benefit everyone who reads and applies its wisdom. Here is what the Scripture's Author--"the God of truth" (Isaiah 65:16 NIV)—says about His own Word: ●The Bible gives direction for life (Psalm 119:105 NIV). “God uses His Word to lead us, no matter what our circumstances may be. The Holy Spirit can take even simple verses, which seem general at first glance, and apply them to our specific situation.” ● Scripture strengthens us when we grieve or face difficulty (Psalm. 119:28, 116 NIV). “By spending time processing what God says, we are reminded that He loves us, cares about our situation, and can handle whatever we are facing. Worry and pain turn into peace, hope, and joyful confidence.” ● God's Word helps us understand our inner motivations (Hebrews 4:12 NIV). “Scripture acts like a mirror that lets us see ourselves as we truly are.” The Bible is the very mind of God put into words so that man can know his Maker more fully. In deepening our understanding of the Heavenly Father, we learn how to live successfully and die unafraid. To what extent do you depend upon this amazing Book as your foundation for life? So, let me leave you with some questions to consider. Do you love God’s Word? Are you obeying God’s Word? If you love it, you will read it. And if you read it, you will pray it…think it…live it…and share it. So please do not miss this coming Sunday; you will learn the “right “words to share with others, the true story of God, and His story of redemption. Make Every Day Count!
