Satan's Program for Sin

​This coming Sunday, we are going to look at the second part of the devil. He is always seeking to destroy anyone who is following Jesus. 

The more valuable something is, the more likely it is to be counterfeited. This explains why fake Rolex watches, fake Gucci handbags, and fake Jordan sneakers, along with counterfeit currency, are so plentiful.

Satan is the counterfeit of God. Demons are the counterfeit of angels. The world is the counterfeit of the Kingdom. Lies are the counterfeit of the truth. Demon-possession is the counterfeit of being Spirit-filled. And, as we continue our study of John’s gospel, we find more counterfeits as Jesus approaches the cross.

How does Satan orchestrate his program to make even the most religious people sin? We need to understand that we are dealing with the greatest counterfeiter who ever lived. As the arch-deceiver, he often employs a mixture of good and evil to accomplish his ends. He does not even mind utilizing the Scriptures if it can serve to achieve an ultimate end.

Satan did not write the Bible, but he was looking over the shoulders of the men who did, memorizing every bit of it. And he has often quoted texts, as he did to Jesus in the wilderness of temptation. In that instance, he actually quoted the Psalmist correctly, saying that angels would protect from even dashing a foot against a stone. But take note that he misapplied the text by urging Jesus to presumptuously leap from the pinnacle and trust the angels to save Him.

If Satan will try to trick Jesus, he will do the same to you!
