Have you ever worked on a project that seemed to take forever? It was an important project, but you grew weary of doing sections, adding to it, or taking away from it. I have so many times. But Nehemiah is a role model for us when we are trying to do what God has called us to do. Just remember it is always something!
I have discovered that if we are not familiar with the enemy and evil schemes, then it is no wonder, we are blindsided and almost taken out. We know that God is our refuge in times of storms…. He will hide us on a cleft rock…. The battle is initially His…. But we also must fight. We have armor that is to be worn. You need to know what evil looks like in our world.

What does the accuser look like?
  1. The accuser will - use his anger to make you afraid.
  2. The accuser will - use his anger to belittle you.
  3. The accuser will - mock you and what you are doing.
  4. The accuser will - accuse you of being too weak or too old or too young or too ignorant to do what God has told you to do.
  5. The accuser will - question if you can protect yourself.
  6. The accuser will - question your depth of commitment.
  7. The accuser will - suggest that you have made a rash decision that you cannot keep.
  8. The accuser will - imply that it is too late to change because of your past experiences.
  9. The accuser will - suggest that even if you start to rebuild your life, it will not do any good.
  10. The accuser will - declare that the smallest enemy will overcome you.
  11. The accuser will - state that the least pressure will cause you to fall again.

Nehemiah stayed the course. He did not listen to the accuser. He finished the wall in 52 days through a combination of strategic organization, parallel work, and constant vigilance against opposition. Key strategies included dividing the work among families and guilds to rebuild different sections simultaneously, posting guards to watch for enemies, and having workers carry tools and weapons at the same time. The workers also maintained a continuous effort, with some taking shifts at night to serve as guards and the rest working during the day without taking time off.
