Do you know what you are passionate about? Everyone is passionate about something. For some, the passion of their lives is education. So, they continue to grow in knowledge, remembering that all knowledge is rooted in the fear of the Lord. For others, their passion is work, which can give them a godly sense of fulfillment in life. These people get up in the morning and are excited about the possibilities of a new day. They see their work as not just a job, but a purpose.
Others have a passion for their families, and they aspire to make their homes a place of faith where God is honored and see their family members walk with the Lord. What a wonderful passion to have! Brent Hobbs writes that passion is waking up in the morning wherever you are and bounding out of bed because you know there is something out there that you love to do, that you believe in, and at which you are good. Something that is bigger than you are, and you can hardly wait to get at it again. It is something you would rather be doing than anything else. You would not give it up for money because it means more to you than money. Passion drives us to excel in athletics, create art, explore new territories, and live energized lives. Passion can make the impossible possible; nothing great is accomplished without it. Passion is what enables and drives scientists to find new cures for dreaded diseases. Passion is what equips athletes to break records and get to the Olympics. Passion is what sustains you in reaching your goals as you go through life. Nothing great is done without Passion. It energizes life. It is what makes your life alive. God wants us to be passionate in our lives and in our faith. He wants you to sense the passion that He put within you. Without it, our lives seem dull, and our faith is dry and routine. To avoid losing our passion, we must understand the emotional, spiritual, and relational ways faith is weakened.
